Chapter 1: Aboard Sakyo's Yacht
In the months prior to the Dark Tournament,younger Toguro has kept himself busy by beginning training a new fighting team.
Team Chaos is a group of five female demon fighters each with extraordinary powers.
Toguro plans to reveal his new team on Hanging Neck Island during this years tournament.
Now,Team Chaos has departed for the island aboard Sakyo's private yacht.
The sun was still shining when the yacht had left the docks. It had all but dissapeared now,as the boat sailed silently over the dark water. Black clouds were building up on the horizon,heralding an approaching storm.
Ember
Dawn was glad the sea was calm,at least it was right now. "Feeling sea sick?", a cute,cat eared demon purred beside her. "No, I'm not feeling that bad,fortunatly." ,Dawn replied smiling at the cat girl.
"I get sea sick too," Ember said slowly,"but I've only been on a boat twice."
Dawn laughed,and shook her long burgundy hair,"I hear you Ember!",she said,looking into the horizon,seeing nothing yet,"How much further is it?"
"About an hour now until we reach the shore." A tall,stately,dark skinned woman said to her startled teammates,"Are you getting bored Dawn?"
Mist
"Not really,I am a bit anxious though." The red headed demoness said,looking to Ember who had suddenly become extremely excited.
The blonde girl giggled,tossing her long braid from it's resting place on her slim shoulder,"I'm not nervous,I'm excited!",she practically yelled into the wind.
Dawn frowned at her friend,"You would be,I know why too.",she practically spat. The dark skinned woman frowned at Ember as well,"You two know why we're here," she began sternly.
"Yes Mist," ,the cat demon cut in quickly,not wanting another long lecture from her team captain,"to represent Master Toguro and all the hard work he's done with us."
Mist sneered,"Yes,and Master Sakyo!",she added. Dawn rolled her crystal blue eyes at them," I don't completely understand why we're here," she muttered angrily,"we aren't even going to actually be in this tournament."
Mist stifled an angry glare at the she demon;she had known when she first met the charasmatic,yet misanthropic girl that adding her to the team would be difficult.
All Dawn's years of abuse and neglect at the hands of humans had strengthened her spirit energy,but made her untrusting,even of her new found fellow demons.Her powers were strong though,she would definatly be an excellent ally for Sakyo's true plan,Dawn's deep hatred of humans practically guaranteed that she would assist him.
After all,that was what this trip was really all about. Dawn didn't know that yet,none of them did,not even Letha.
Mist smiled,"You heard me,we are not here only to represent Master Toguro and Sakyo but ourselves! In the next Dark Tournament we will fight and win!"
"I like that idea." Dawn said,smiling again. Ember was relieved to see it too,when her new friend decided to get upset,it was nearly impossible to bring her out of it.Once,it even took the cat demon three days!
Dawn is so much prettier when she smiles,Ember thought,I'll try to get her to smile more often.
"Just what the hell are you staring at pussy?" Dawn asked her. "What?!" Ember pouted,"I'm no pussy!"
Dawn began to laugh,"Just kidding! Calm down will ya?" The somewhat confused look quickly exited Ember's hazel eyes,"Hey, I have a good idea!",she exclaimed,pointing towards the other end of the boat,"Let's go try and talk to Jayba,she seems really interesting."
There,standing alone was another tall,dark skinned woman with very long,bright red hair,she was gazing silently out to sea.
"Why?",Dawn asked Ember,"She's barely spoken to us at all so far,and besides,I think Jayba enjoys her privacy.I can definatly respect that."
Jayba
Dawn certainly liked her quiet teammate,even though she was not exactly sure why.When the entire team had assembled for the very first time,at the docks before leaving, she had glanced into the stoic girl's jade green eyes.
The demon ess felt that for a fleeting moment,she had seen Jayba's very soul.Dawn always had known she had the ability to read others minds and emotions,even when she still believed herself to be a human.
Her psychic skills had made Dawn an excellent judge of character,even if sometimes the girl had ignored her instincts and fallen victim to 'psychic vampires'.
Dawn hated herself for that weakness,especially when she had realized that she knew all along what was happening,but was powerless to stop it.That will never happen again,she thought angrily.
"Jayba's cool Ember,but when she decides to talk,we'll be there to listen." Dawn whispered.
"Okay Dawn.",the cat demon agreed,"Now I am getting bored! We've got a whole hour left and I gotta find my Yoko as soon as we arrive!",Ember exclaimed,stomping her foot hard on the deck.
"You are nuts," Dawn said angrily,not understanding how her teammate could always seem so nieve,Dawn guessed that the cat demon's age was a major factor in this problem.
"You know damn well that we'll be locked up like prisoners as soon as we get there,just like all the other times.Might as well forget that idea right now Ember,geez,you and this Yoko guy,that whole story is way too complicated for me today!"
Ember rolled her eyes at Dawn,"Yeah,I see," ,she taunted,"You only want to talk about that short,pointy haired demon boy we saw at Tarukane's!"
Dawn was practically furious now,reminding her of her training/prison sentence was bad enough,but this?
"I do not!" she fumed,"I only saw him because YOU drug me over where they were so YOU could stare at some red head who you claim is," Dawn tried her best to imitate Ember's voice, "the long dead Yoko Kurama,whoever he is,and I saw some descent looking demon with him,so what! I told you over and over,I am NOT interested in any damn guys right now!"
Ember attempted to cover her little cat ears,but Dawn pulled her hands away.
Dawn continued her tirade,"I just got SOME of my freedom back and you're little match-maker ass is trying to make me give it up?NO way! All men are,human or demon,are liars and cheats.You only act this foolish because you've probably never even had a boyfriend,no offense."
Ember wrinkled her whiskers in disgust and said,"None taken,I guess."
The anger in Dawn's icy blue eyes seemed to dissolve suddenly,and when the she demon spoke again,her voice sounded distant,"Okay,okay,I'll admit it,he was very handsome,and the way he handled himself and that fat bastard Tarukane was awesome.He should've killed the pig though,I was so glad when Master knocked off that hideous head!"
Both girls laughed,recalling Tarukane's bloody head rolling across the linoleum floor,his pink human brains had even left a gory trail.
"But as for me seeking this demon guy out," Dawn obviously had more to say,"most likely I'll never see him again."
Ember wondered if the conversation was truly over,she laughed inside though,because she knew Dawn was lying.Maybe the demon did have a grudge against love,she sure seemed to have grudges against almost everything,but the way her eyes had changed when she had first noticed the dark demon boy alongside Yoko,the cat demon knew that look all to well.
Dawn's pupils had been so dialated,Ember had been completely unable to see any blue!
Just she wait until I find Yoko,I'll find his little companion too,she thought,I actually think I know that demon's name too,he's ruthless and evil,or so I've heard.He and Dawn would be a perfect match,when I find him I'm going to tell him that,she mused silently,Dawn may kill me afterwards but what the hell,love must not be avoided!
Ember truly believed for some strange reason she would be doing her teammate a favor,and the demon boy one as well.
"I just happened to remember that demon's name too Dawn," Ember dared to speak at last; hoping her freind was in better spirits by now. Dawn only shook her head disgustedly. "His name is Hiei,he's a fire apparition and,"
Dawn walked away.
"Hey! I was talking to you! Come back here!" The cat demon ran up behind her now very aggitated freind. Dawn turned around quite suddenly and pointed her finger directly into Ember's startled face,"Stop it Ember,I already told you." "But,"
"NO! I am NOT interested okay?! Please,give it a rest." The cat demon's snapped shut,knowing that she had gone too far this time.
"I'm sorry," she whimpered a few tense moments later. "Just forget it. Hey look," Dawn said,pointing over Ember's shoulder,"I can see the island now."
There it was,Hanging Neck Island,looming out of the thick fog.Jayba had noticed the oddly shaped island long ago,but her teammates heated conversation had distracted their attention.
Jayba had to agree with Dawn though,screw love. Jayba didn't care about love or anything else for that matter,right now. All that mattered to her was the tournament,her destiny would begin there.
Jayba was very glad to be a member of such an elite female demon team,the other girls were powerful and worthy of respect.Her master was as well,but the she demon had to admit,she was a little dissapointed in him though.
Younger Toguro was rather kind to all his women fighters;Jayba had guessed he was going to be a ruthless,horrible master when he had first approached her several months earlier.
Toguro's powers were beyond phenomenal,it was incredible that the man had once been human,he seemed like the perfect demon lord to Jayba. His teachings were nearly impossible,just like the she demon liked them,but the demon was kind to she and her teammates though,oddly enough.
How strange,she thought. Jayba was really the most surprised at finding herself actually beginning to like her teammates personally.That could always change though,one never knows...
The sun had almost dissapeared now;the fog surrounding the island seemed to devour it.
Mist was standing alone on deck,staring far away and dreaming of her future.She and Sakyo had met through the renowned Black,Black Club.From the moment she had seen the handsome,rich human man,Mist knew that he had to her's.
Unfortunatly,he was human,but being half human herself,she could'nt help but feel the attraction.Sakyo had reciprocated,and the two had become lovers almost immediatly. They also quickly realized that their fates lay together.Now Mist would see all of their precious plans through,her team was almost there.
Quite suddenly,a very tall,thin,raven haired demon materialized right beside the day dreaming she demon,the female newcomer smiled."We shall most surely be sated once we reach the shore shall we not my friend?",the pretty girl said,with a voice like sweet music.
"That we will friend." Mist replied,her green eyes never leaving the fast approaching island,"I have already been communicating with Sakyo." Her teammate nodded,"I have also been speaking with my beloved,he is anxiously expecting me.I belive he has already arrived on the island and is with our Master,it seems to have been an eternity since we were last together."
Letha
Letha sighed deeply,and recalled she and Karasu's last meeting.The demon had told her to join Toguro's all female team and come to meet him on Hanging Neck Isalnd.The red eyed demon ess had most certainly agreed.
The idea was thrilling,training for the next Dark Tournament,under the most powerful team ever to win it.There was no doubt in Letha's mind who would be the victors this year,Master Toguro and Karasu of course,but now was the time for her to prove her powers to the demon world,as well as the human's and Letha could'nt wait.
Ember and Dawn walked up to their silent teammates,"I'm so glad we're almost there!" Ember practically yelled,"What are we going to do first Mist?"
"First," Mist turned and said quietly,"We go to our hotel room,from there we will all be escorted to the stadium for a meeting woth the Master."
"Oh great." Ember was obviously tired of delays in her plans to find The Spirit Fox. Letha laughed at the young demon girl,"You will have your time Ember dear,Yoko Kurama isn't going anywhere.",she said.
Ember was startled by her teammate's sarcastic words,"But how did you know?",the cat girl stuttered.Letha had dissapeared though,leaving only the echo of mocking laughter behind.
"She is amazing!" Dawn exclaimed,blue eyes wide. "How did she know about Yoko?" Ember finally said,totally confused. Now it was Dawn's turn to laugh,"How could any of us not know with your big mouth kitty cat?"
"Thanks alot." Ember was pouting now," I can't help it! I'm excited! Do you realize how long it's been since I've spoken to him?"
Mist could not hold her temper in check any longer,"Yoko Kurama is a rival Ember,just like all the other apparitions in that tournament.Do not anger Master toguro by involving yourself with him!" Team Chaos's captain was not about to jeopardize their plans for one demon girl's silly crush.
"It's alright Ember," Dawn consoled her freind,giving the cat demon a sly wink,"I'm sure it'll all work out." Then a small,tan and white dog came trotting up from below deck,she stopped at Mist's feet,looking up at her expectantly.
"I understand Oniami,alright ladies!" Mist began sternly,"Time to go below deck,we don't want anyone getting a free preview now do we?"
Ember and Dawn both nodded,and then headed for the stairs. "Imagine!" Ember whispered,"Me having to take orders from a dog!" "I know," Dawn said blandly,"We all ahve to take orders from toguro's demon puppy,what luck." Oniami snorted in derision at the two of them,and then followed.
"Jayba",Mist called to the ever silent she demon,"We must all go down below now." Jayba turned to her captain,nodded,then dissapeared.
Mist laughed aloud,"Well Sakyo,we're here! Just wait til' they get a load of us!",then she dissapeared herself.

Jayba notices Chu for the first time,while Mist and Letha reunite with their men.
